OPPDAL

On the way from Lillestrøm to Oppdal
My Norwegian uncle invited me to his house in the middle of Norway. The place is called Oppdal. It is located in the mountains and many Norwegians go there either in the winter for downhillskiing or in the summer for mountaintours, for downhillbiking or just to relax. The journey to Oppdal on the train was a fantastic experience itself. I couldn't stop staring out of the window, watching the amazing norwegian landscape which was changing every single hour.

Uncle N. signed me up for 25km bike race, where we were going together with his grandson. The race was perfect and I really enjoyed it. The one we were biking was for families with kids. A very friendly trail with not too much competitive people. Lovely. N.'s grandson was very clever and really fast for his age. What I would love to mention is a tradition of fairytale figures on bike races in Norway. On shorter trails you'll meet a whitch. I was scared when I met her, because I didn't know anything about this tradition. A woman dressed in black on the side of the way with a mad expression in her face... I really didn't like that lady :-P. On longer trail you'll usually meet a devil. (Next time, maybe ;-)).

After this race we did some downhillbiking. First we took a lift to the top of the mountain and than we went down. It felt like sitting on a goat :-D. I had been downhillbiking for the first time in my life. N. lent me a very nice (and a very expensive) bike, so it was a bit easier for me to ride and I got all the necessary protectors. I think now I know how it felt to be a knight in the Middle Ages. But anyway, going down was very challenging. And a very very intensive exercise. But I am looking forward to trying it again.

Not only N. took me for bike tours but he also took me for a perfect trip towards Sunndal. Here are some snaps from there. Lovely weather and a fascinating history of these places.

N. was a perfect host. We spent a very nice time talking and I was introduced to his relatives and friends who's cozy houses are right in the neighborhood. The grilling evening with all of them was really enjoyable.
