STUDENTSKÁ RADA (in English below the picture)

Trochu náhodou a tak trošku vlastním přičiněním jsem se dostala do studentského parlamentu letní školy. Hned první týden proběhly volby zástupců z každé třídy. V naší třídě se do kandidatury nikdo nehrnul. Přišlo mi, že by to mohla být fajn příležitost, jak poznat nové lidi, tak jsem se přihlásila. Společně ještě se Saritou nás tedy třída vyslala do studentské rady. Ještě to odpoledne jsme měli schůzku všech zástupců. Vedli ji Activity Coordinátoři. Vysvětlili nám, co budeme dělat a k čemu vlastně studentská rada slouží.

Studentská rada letní školy je tlupa studentů (celkem nás bylo asi 70), zástupců jednotlivých tříd. Jejím hlavním cílem je, aby ostatní studenti byli informováni o tom, co se na letní škole děje. Studentská rada se taky podílí na „social programu“ a pomáhá Activity coordinátorům. V čele celé studentské rady stojí prezident, má svého viceprezidenta, pak sekretářku, co zapisuje záznamy ze schůzek a pak pokladníka, co má na starosti rozpočet. Univerzita nám poskytla celkem asi 7000 NOK. 

Hlavním výstupem studentské rady je ale závěrečný „International Cultural Evening (I.C.E.)“. Večer, kde studenti letní školy prezentují své země. Buď u stánků ve formě letáků, brožur atd. nebo něco uvaří. A nebo vystoupí na prknech, co znamenají svět, při závěrečné show. Na představení chodí i zástupci ambasád, takže je to docela prestižní záležitost. Studentská rada tedy musela tohle všechno zorganizovat, najít někoho, kdo vystoupí atd. Hlavní zodpovědnost měli vedoucí I.C.E. komise (ta se taky volila) a ostatní pomáhali. Kromě ICE komise byly ještě další (např. komise pro norštinu, co organizovala exkurze v norštině; sportovní komise, co měla na starosti sportovní aktivity na kolejích, komise pro ochranu přírody, taneční komise, média komise). 

Druhý den poté, co nám koordinátoři vysvětlili co a jak, se konaly prezentace kandidátů a volby výkonné rady (prezidenta... a hlav jednotlivých spolků). Já jsem nekandidovala. Ale pak jsem se přihlásila jako člen do ICE show commitee, do Dance committee a do Media committee. Za prezidenta jsme zvolili moc milýho klučinu z Afriky, co žije ale už dlouho v Americe. Seznámila jsem se tam s jedním fajn Afričanem z Konga. Toho jsme zvolili za pokladníka. Jeho křestní jméno je Trezor, takže trochu „nomen omen“ :-D.

S dance committee, co vedla jedna holka z Columbie - Carol, jsme pak měli hodiny salsy, vymýšeli a učili ostatní choreografii na závěrečný večírek v tanečním klubu. Taky jsme pomáhali na na generálních zkouškách I.C.E. show a radili tanečníkům, jak pracovat s prostorem na pódiu, co doladit, aby vše bylo perfektní.

THE STUDENT COUNCIL

 

I happened to become a member of the ISS  Student Council. During the first week there were elections of representatives to the council in each class of the ISS. In our class there was nobody to run for it. I thought it might be a good opportunity to meet other people. So very democratically and by 100% of votes, me and Sarita were elected. The same day we had a first council meeting. It was led by Activity Coordinators. They explained us the main goals and purpose of the Student Council.

The Student Council is in fact a bunch of people (there were about 70 of us) whose goal is to keep other students informed about off-classes activities. The council participates also on the social program and helps Activity coordinators. Head of the whole council is a president, other members of executive committee are vice-president, secretary and treasurer who cares about budget. The university gave us 7000 NOK for council’s social program.

In fact, the main task of the Student Council was to organize the “International Cultural Evening (I.C.E.)”. It is an event where ISS students represent their countries. Either at stands by handing out brochures and by cooking or performing right on stage of the Chateau Neuf. There often come people from embassies of different countries to the I.C.E., what makes it a kind of prestigious event. So it was up to the Student Council to organize it, but the most responsible ones were heads of stand/cooking/show committee. Except for these committees we also elected heads of Norwegian committee which organized excursions or other events in Norwegian language, sports committee that organized sports activities and some more committees like dance/ media/ environmental. 

The day after, there were elections of the executive committee and elections of heads of other committees. I didn’t candidate. But I was a member of the dance, media and the ICE show committee. We elected one youngie from Africa, who lives and studies in the US. For treasurer we elected one guy from Congo. His first name is Tresor. Nomen omen :-D.

As a member of the dance committee, I helped Carol (Colombian girl and head of the dance committee) to teach the others some choreography we created for the final farewell party. I also participated a bit during rehearsals for the ICE show. We gave the dancers advices on how to work with space on stage and what to improve, so that everything is perfect.
